30 g, Pontificate of Pope Francis Gold Coin - Second Vatican Council, Sacrosanctum Concilium 2018

The 100 euro gold coin for 2018 inaugurates a new four-year cycle  dedicated to the Apostolic Constitutions of the Second Vatican Council.  We begin with “Sacrosanctum Concilium”, the “Magna Carta” of the  Church’s liturgical renewal. The Liturgy is the “source” from which all  the energy of the Church goes forth. The small reservoir depicted on  the coin represents the Liturgy that by being renewed gushes and flows  between the rocks, with the “Agnus Dei” (Lamb of God), symbolizing  Christ and the Church. The Liturgy, source of energy and nourishment,  feeds the large flourishing tree full of fruit, symbolizing the “new era for  the Catholic Church.
