The American Gold Eagle, authorized under the Gold Bullion Act of 1985, was first released by the United States Mint in 1986. Gold Coins contain 916,7/1000 Au, 30/1000 Ag and 53,3/1000 Cu. The obverse design features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' full length figure of Lady Liberty. The reverse design, by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch.
